Case: 01 July 2018
Summary
Precipitating stratocumulus clouds primarily over the main ENA site
Description
This was the second part of a multi-day event, with this day featuring an extended stratocumulus event with relatively continuous cloud coverage in the vicinity of the ENA site and Azores islands. Boundary layer winds were light and from the north to northeast. Cloud echo top heights were observed at approximately 1.5 km AGL and deepened to 2.0 km throughout the daytime hours. The regional cloud field was less continuous however, with increasing breaks in the deck observed throughout this event regionally. Persistent higher clouds were observed by SEVIRI throughout this event over the ENA site.
