Case: 19 November 2016

Summary

Closed yet cellular-type stratocumulus with embedded precipitation

Description

A widespread stratocumulus cloud event with closed cell behaviors that featured embedded stronger cellular elements. The event was associated with northwesterly winds. The cells observed during the earliest hours of the event were suggestive of rain that was reaching the surface at the ENA main site. Persistent upper-level (10-12 km AGL) clouds advecting over the main site were observed towards the middle portions of this event. Inversion height at approximately 1.4 km AGL.
