Case: 19 April 2022
Summary
Widespread precipitating stratocumulus that gradually thinned throughout the event
Description
This was a closed cell and widespread cloud deck that exhibited solid cloud coverage throughout the Azores region. The low-level winds were light to moderate and out of the east. Drizzle was arguably ubiquitous throughout the first half of this event, as based on ARM profiling observations. The cloud deck gradually thinned during the second half of this event, however the deck remained without breaks over the ENA main site and stayed relatively contiguous across the larger region. Inversion height at approximately 1.5 km AGL.
