Case: 21 November 2016
Summary
Open cellular cloud organization under relatively light northerly winds
Description
This was an open cell cumulus event with widespread coverage across the domain. The clouds form under light northerly low-level flow present throughout this event. The melting level was near or above the observed cloud echo top heights for the entirety of the event. Several precipitating cells overpassed the ENA main site, with the most intense intervals of precipitation occurring around midday. The SEVIRI observations suggested upper level clouds south of the primary Azores region, associated with the synoptic wave passage in the early hours of the event.
